Katrain sits on the highway about 20 km short of Manali, so your guests stay clear of the town's traffic and still reach Solang or the Atal Tunnel for a day out.

  • Bhuntar airport Kullu-Manali Airport. The nearest flights land here.
  • Kullu The district town and bus stand. Kullu Dussehra runs for seven days here in October.
  • Katrain Katrain, at about 1,470 m. Hotel Shubham is near the Indian Oil petrol pump, on the old Kullu-Manali road.
  • Naggar Naggar Castle, built around 1460 in the kath-kuni style, with the Roerich gallery close by.
  • Manali Hadimba temple, Mall Road and the hot springs at Vashisht. Go early to beat the traffic.
  • Solang Valley Snow play in winter and skiing, best in January and February.
  • Atal Tunnel The 9.02 km tunnel to Sissu and Lahaul, open since October 2020.
  • Rohtang Pass A high pass at about 3,980 m, open roughly May to November. A permit is needed.

Isn't Katrain a little far from Manali?
It is about 20 km, roughly 30 to 45 minutes by road, and longer in peak-season traffic. For a wedding that distance helps: your guests stay clear of Manali's traffic jams, and Manali, Solang and the Atal Tunnel are still an easy day out. The airport at Bhuntar is about 32 km the other way.
Is the road open in the monsoon?
Katrain is on the main Kullu-Manali highway. July and August are the wettest months in the valley, and heavy rain can slow or close roads for a while. Check the road status before you travel, or call us and we will tell you how things look here.
When is the best time for a wedding here, and will there be snow?
March to June and mid-September to mid-November bring the clearest days. Snow falls mostly from December to early March, heaviest up at Manali and Solang; Katrain sits lower in the valley. Muhurat months change every year, and the enquiry form shows this year's.
What can guests do between functions?
Our front desk arranges paragliding, river rafting, camping, treks and sightseeing. Naggar Castle is 6 to 7 km away and Manali about 20 km. Rafting and paragliding pause during the monsoon ban, roughly mid-July to mid-September.

The nearest airport is Bhuntar (Kullu-Manali Airport), about 32 km away, and Kullu bus stand is about 21 km. Delhi buses to Manali run along this highway; ask your operator for the Katrain or Patlikuhal stop. Patlikuhal is about 3.5 km away.
